I Received the 2021 Pollyanna Pickering Award from AFC at the Sonora Desert Museum Exhibit in Tucson

I recently won the inaugural Artists For Conservation Pollyanna Pickering Award.
The award, which was given by Anna-Louise Pickering in honor of her mother Pollyanna Pickering (who sadly passed last year), acknowledges her mother’s outstanding contribution to wildlife art and conservation activism.
It is given to an original piece of wildlife art that depicts an endangered species, and I won it with “Tim”, one of the last and largest of the giant tuskers, watercolor, 30″ x 22″ on Lanaquarelle Rough 300 lb paper.
The juried exhibit featured 50 works from some of the world’s leading wildlife artists and included works in watercolor, acrylic, oil, graphite, woodcut, colored pencil, and sculptures, in paper, bronze, stone, and wood.
It was a great joy to finally meet some of my artist colleagues, and we had a ribald dinner the next night with Jeff Whiting (CEO), Anna-Louise Pickering, Suzie Seerey-Lester, Guy Combes, and other luminaries of the wildlife art world.
